Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting, observes a minute silence for Auno attack victims

- Nigeria's vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, presided over the FEC meeting on Wednesday, February 12.

- President Buhari arrived in the country after the 33rd AU summit in Ethiopia

- The meeting also observed a minute of silence in honour of the victims of Auno attacks

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided on Wednesday, February 12, over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Daily Nigerian reports that the vice president urged the cabinet members to observe a minute of silence for those killed by Boko Haram on Monday, February 10, in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Legit.ng gathered that the meeting was kicked off at about 11 am.

The meeting also observed a minute silence for former Chief of Naval Staff, the late Vice-Admiral Patrick Koshoni.

The call for the one-minute silence for the departed was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, December 19, was presided over by Osinbajo.

It was reported that the NEC meeting deliberated on economic planning efforts and programmes of the various levels of government in the nation.

Among state governors who attended the meeting were Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Bala Muhammed (Bauchi), Babagana Umara Zulum (Borno) and Samuel Ortom (Benue).

The FCT minister, Muhammed Bello, and the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele alongside ministers in the country were also in attendance.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, December 11, presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Osinbajo presided over the FEC meeting because President Muhammadu Buhari is out of Nigeria.

The president left the country to attend the Aswan peace forum in Egypt. The forum is tagged An Agenda for Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa.

Presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, commented on the successes recorded in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in terms of security.

Adesina said that although things are not at their best in this regard, they were worse in Jonathan's administration.
