A woman identified as Rajani Shetty has re-established the fact that there are people around the world who will risk their lives to save animals.

Shetty, who is from Mangalore, India, risked her life and climbed down a 30ft deep well to rescue a stray dog that fell inside the well, India Times reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the dog fell into the well after a fight with other street dogs and spent the night there.

The dog was pulled up with ropes by Good Samaritans, who also helped the woman climb up the well.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a man in the United States identified as Jason Garrett displayed a rare show of love for his 12-year-old dog Lola who needs to undergo major surgery for pre-heart failure.

Garrett drained his retirement savings to raise $45,000 (N16.3m) for the procedure, which is said to be 90% success rate.

Staff are learning how to perform the procedure at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospital.

Garrett said: “She’s family. The reason I continue to survive and even thrive with the disease is Lola.”

According to the Californian-based man, Lola has an enlarged heart because she has a damaged mitral valve.

Garrett is waiting for the Japanese inventor of the procedure to teach other vets in Florida so that he won’t have to fly to Japan to save his dog’s life.
