Adhere to good governance principles always, Gov Okowa charges public officers

- Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been an advocate of good governance since he assumed office

- The governor has continued his campaign of tasking public officers to use their offices for the public good

- The governor urged new appointees in his government to be diligent in their responsibilities

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has urged political office holders to be guided at all times by good governance and leadership principles.

The governor made the call on Tuesday, February 11 in Asaba while swearing in members of the Delta State Sports Commission.

Also sworn in as a member of the State Judicial Service Commission was Chief Lucky Ekayama Loyibo.

Governor Okowa congratulated the appointees and said that they were well chosen as “men and women with strong work ethic, discipline and commitment.”

According to him, it is a good mix of motivators and technocrats, enthusiasm and experience, passion and temperance.

The governor urged the officer to be diligent in their responsibilities, adding, “you should discharge your responsibilities in accordance with section 196 sub-sections 1 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and work for the good governance and development of the state.”

To the newly sworn-in special adviser, the governor said: “I welcome sound and professional advice that will put the administration on the path of delivering the dividends of democracy and finishing strong

“This administration is ever ready to listen to good advice and work with it as long as it will further our developmental aspirations and impact positively on the lives of our people.’’

Governor Okowa recently urged politicians, especially political office holders, to serve God through selfless service in their positions.

The governor made the call on Saturday, January 4 at a thanksgiving service hosted by House of Representatives member, Ben Igbakpa in Ethiope West local government area of the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Okowa has said he has a covenant with the people of the state and would work to protect his name by leaving good legacies behind at the end of his tenure in 2023.

The governor made the comment when he played host to the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, YNRO, a Non-Governmental Organisation.
