The president assured them that his administration will continually frustrate the operations of terrorist group, Boko Haram, and bring it to an end.

The terrorists killed nine people and kidnapped some travellers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway around Auno town, in Konduga local government area of the state late at night.

They destroyed and burnt 17 vehicles and goods worth millions of naira during the attack after motorists were stranded due to closure of entrance into Maiduguri town at 6 pm.

President Buhari in a statement on Monday, February 10 sent to journalists by his media aide, Garba Shehu, said the terrorists' days are numbered, adding that they will be completely crushed in no time.

“The commitment of this administration to protect the lives of Nigerians will not be derailed by the cowardly and indiscriminate violence against innocent people by Boko Haram terrorists,’’ he said.

“The peculiar challenges of asymmetric warfare notwithstanding, our armed forces are ever determined to defeat these enemies of humanity,’’ President Buhari said.

The Buhari administration is coming under increasing pressure as terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP have been having a field day killing innocent citizens in the last few weeks.
