The President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Monday, February 10, expressed sadness over the death of Senator Ignatius Longjan who died at a Turkish hospital in Abuja on Sunday, February 9.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, Lawan commiserated with the family of the deceased, Plateau state government and people over the sad loss.
Until his death, Longjan represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber.
Before his death, Longjan served as the chief of staff and Plateau state deputy governor. The Senate president went on to note that Longjan will be sorely missed by the Senate. Lawan prayed that those the deceased he left behind will have the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the member representing Garki/ Babura federal constituency of Jigawa state, Hon Muhammad Gawo is dead. The federal lawmaker died in Dubai while undergoing medical treatment over a disease associated with his legs.
The Jigawa state lawmaker is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Aged 74, the late Fagen Gawo was in his second term as a member of the National Assembly. He left behind 10 children and a wife.
It would be recalled that the senator representing Imo North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate, Benjamin Uwajumogu died at the age of 51. The senator died in the early hours of Wednesday, December 18, 2019, after he slumped.
