Personnel of the United States (US)'s secret service have arrested a 25-year old man, Roger Hedgpeth from Brandon, Florida, who was found with a knife with which he intended to kill President Donald Trump.
Dailymail reports that policemen arrested Hedgpeth outside the White House complex in the afternoon of Saturday, February 8.
According to officers of the unit, Hedgpeth confessed his criminal intention to the police by saying: "I have a knife to do it with."
After seizing his vehicle, police officials said that the young man has been taken into custody and given mental health evaluation for treatment.
Reports have that Hedgpeth, who was in possession of a pistol, was a missing person from a psychiatric facility.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Trump had sacked two senior officials who testified against him during his impeachment trial at the House of Representatives.
The US president recalled his ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland. This was few hours after Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman was sacked on Friday, February 7.
Vindman's twin brother Yevgeny, also a lieutenant colonel who worked as a lawyer in the NSC, was also sent back to the Department of the Army.
Vindman's lawyer, David Pressman, accused President Trump of exacting revenge on his client for telling the truth.
Trump was acquitted by the Senate on impeachment charges preferred against him on Wednesday, February 5.
With the conclusion of the Senate trial, President Trump remains the US president and he was already on the move to be re-elected in November 2020.
Similarly, Trump had earlier attacked Senator Mitt Romney for voting in support of his impeachment during the Senate's trial on Wednesday, February 5.
Despite belonging to Trump's party, the Republican party, Senator Romney voted to convict the US president on the impeachment charges filed against him.
With his action, Romney has emerged the first senator in the history of the US to vote to convict a president from his own party.
