The Nigerian international was left out of the United squad that travelled to Marbella training camp amid heightening border restrictions.
Scott McTominay and defender Axel Tuanzebe also made it with the rest of the squad to Spain, but because Ighalo came from China, there was fear border restriction might be much tighter for his return back to the UK, hence the decision to drop him.
