- Sergio Aguero has won a record-breaking 7th Player of the Month award for January
- The Argentine achieved that feat with impressive six goals and one assist in three games
- The 31-year-old star now occupies the 4th place in the list of all-time highest goalscorers in EPL history
Manchester City forward, Sergio Agüero, has been named Premier League player of the month for January following his impressive goal-scoring run for the Blues.
The Argentine was outstanding and phenomenal for the Citizens in January, helping them to cruise to comfortable victories against Aston Villa and Sheffield United.
Aguero was also the only messiah needed as Pep Guardiola escaped what could have resulted in an embarrassing outing during 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
Aguero scored impressive six goals and grabbed 1 assist in the process, with three of the goals coming at Villa Park.
The former Athletico Madrid forward has now won his record-breaking 7th Player of the Month award, becoming the first player in the Premier League history to do so.
The feat means the Argentine has surpassed Tottenham star Harry Kane and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard who have six each.
Aguero picked up his first POTM award in October 2013, with his last win coming in February 2019.
He is the only the second player in EPL history to score 20+ goals in five consecutive campaigns, after Thierry Henry.
Similarly, his sensational treble against Aston Villa was all he needed to move above Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as the most prolific overseas player in the history of Premier League.
The 31-year-old Argentine forward reached the significant landmark of his career in 255 appearances-- three fewer games than the Frenchman who made his in 258 games.
The 31-year-old star now occupies the 4th place in the list of all-time highest goalscorers in the history of Premier League with 180 goals in 258 appearances.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski, is the leading contender for the Golden Boot award with the Polish star scoring 33 goals in just 28 appearances for the Bavarians.
The sensational striker has been in stellar form since the beginning of the season, and it was only Lazio star Ciro Immobile who is next to him on the race.
