A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been brought into the limelight following an act of honesty that he carried out.

The young man caught the attention of members of the internet community, after a social media user identified as @ill_yha on Twitter, posted his photo and shared a story about what the young man did.

According to @ill_yha, the Kaduna state corps member returned an extra N33k allowance that was paid into his account for his monthly upkeep. Instead of pocketing the entire N66k, the young man called the attention of NYSC officials to the anomaly and refunded the extra amount.

However, a Twitter user who commented on the issue submitted that he would have had reservations about returning the money. He said the reason for his line of thought is because he does not know if the money would be tendered to the appropriate quarters even if he returns it.

@ill_yha was quick to remind him that the corps member’s decision to return the money was simply the best because the NYSC management may realize that he was overpaid and refuse to pay him the allowance for the following month.
