Real Madrid on Thursday night, February 6, suffered an embarrassing 4-3 home defeat against visiting Real Sociedad in the quarterfinal of the Copa Del Rey.
Los Blancos have not tasted success in this championship since 2014, and their nightmares in the Copa Del Rey however continues.
The visitors started the match impressively and they had to wait till the 22nd minute to score the first goal through Martin Oedegaard in which Real Madrid goalie will have himself to blame for conceding the goal.
Real Sociedad fans thought they had scored the second goal in the 49th minute through Alexander Isak, but the VAR was later checked and the goal was disallowed.
But the 20-year-old Swedish professional footballer went to to score a brace in the 54th and 56th minute to give Real Sociedad a 3-0 lead.
Brazilian defender Marcelo reduced the scoreline in the 59th minute with a superb goal after getting an assist from Brahim Diaz.
The visitors scored again in the 69th minute through Mikel Merino who got an assist from Alexander Isak.
Real Madrid labored to come back into the match will two late goals from Rodrygo and Nacho Fernandez, but they failed to get the one which could have sent the match into extra time.
Sociedad eventually won the match 4-3 for them to reached the semifinal of the Copa Del Rey.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will now have to fight for the Spanish La Liga title and also the Champions League this season for them not to end the term without a trophy.
