President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he will fulfill the promise he made during his inaugural speech to end terrorism from the shores of Nigeria.
The Nigerian president made the statement on Thursday, February 6, when he commissioned two Nigeria Air Force Agusta 109 Power Helicopters and Mi-17 E Helicopters at the Eagle Square.
Buhari said part of his plan to end insecurity in the country will include re-professionalizing and re-equipping the military to meet the growing exigencies of security in the country.
He said the successes achieved by his administration had restored Nigeria’s pride and honour the world over.
The Nigerian president thanked Nigerians for believing in his administration despite occasional outrages, challenges facing the nation.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights (CALSER) has called on Federal Government and President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate and apprehend sponsors of terrorism in the country.
The plea was made at the periodic review of Boko Haram/ISWAP activities in Nigeria and Africa by the group.
Speaking at the press conference on Wednesday, February 5, in Abuja, convener, Princess Ajibola, said the attempts by religious leaders in the country to change the name of the culprit to rob on others is unbelievable.
Ajibola said the insecurity in the country is beyond locally backed foreign destabilization plots as there are also insiders working against the country's peace and tranquillity.
In another report, some respected Nigerian elders have called for citizens' support for the inspector general of Police and other security chiefs in the country.
The elders PRONECO also passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari especially in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
In a communique released after a meeting on the security situation in the country in Abuja on Thursday, February 6, the elders said a review of terrorists' activities, banditry and other security threats confronting the nation show that President Buhari has soared higher above the evil forces amassed on the peace and stability of the nation.
