Manchester United have been defeated by Chelsea for the signing of Edwin Andersson who has joined the Blues from Swedish giants IFK Gothenburg for an undisclosed fee.

The Blues chiefs are said to have had an agreement with IFK Gothenburg before the January 2020 transfer window closed.

According to the report, Jonas Olsson who is Gothenburg academy chief made it known that his player has joined last season's Europa League winners.

Olsson added that he would have love Andersson to stay with them adding that it is good for him to continue his football education at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.

18 months ago, Edwin Andersson had a trial at Manchester United, but the Red Devils failed to thigh him down at Old Trafford.

An agreement was later agreed by the Blues chiefs with IFK Gothenburg and waited for seven months before landing the winger.

He will have to start at Chelsea's youth team where he will have the chance to exhibit his talent after been compared Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo who has won five Ballon d'Or awards.
