NECO releases 2019 SSCE results

- NECO on Thursday, February 6, released results of the 2019 SSCE

- This was revealed by the NECO's acting registrar, Abubakar Gana

- Gana said that the council did not record any decrease in the level of examination crime

Results of the 2019 November/December Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO) have been released.

NECO's registrar, Abubakar Gana, who revealed the development on Thursday, February 6 said that of the 65,207 who sat for English paper in the examination, 41,214, representing 63% came out with either distinction or credit, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Gana also said that of the 66,398 candidates that sat for Mathematics, 54,565 of them, representing 82.18%, got either distinction or credit.

He went on to disclose that 48.68% of those who sat for the examination got five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

The registrar said: “On the other hand, 50,057 candidates, representing 72.57% got five Credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

“A comparative analysis of candidates who scored five Credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics for 2018 and 2019 shows 62.48% for 2018 and 48.68% for 2019."

He said that 48.68% of those who wrote the examination got five Credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that just ten days after he was sacked by an Abuja high court over alleged certificate forgery, NECO had confirmed Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's certificate.

Legit.ng reported that the embattled senator on his Facebook page on Monday, January 27, said the examination body confirmed the certificate he submitted to INEC as original and authentic.

According to him, in a letter with the particulars as follows: NECO/R/LGS/20/003, dated January 23, 2020 and addressed to Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria (HURIWA), Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and YPP, the examination body released Senator Ubah's result details and cleared the air about Statement of Result and NECO Certificate.
