Imo: Ihedioha hires 30 lawyers, ex-AGF to battle Uzodinma at Supreme Court

- Emeka Ihedioha has hired about 30 lawyers to wrest the judgment of the Supreme Court

- One of the members of the team is a former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Kanu Agabi

- This is coming days after the apex court ruled against Ihedioha's gubernatorial election victory

It is obvious that the former governor of Imo, Emeka Ihedioha, is not willing to back down after he was removed from his office by a Supreme court ruling.

After filing an application that the apex court should set aside its verdict that installed Hope Uzodinma as the new governor of the state, Ihedioha on Wednesday, February 5, said that he has hired a team over 30 lawyers for the imminent re-awakening of a legal battle, The Sun reports.

Confirming the development, a former Attorney-General of the state, Ndukwe Nnawuchi, said that the team has studied the judgment of the court and has told Ihedioha what to do based on their professional consideration.

Moreover, Nnawuchi said that one of the members of the team is a former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Kanu Agabi.

Following the advice of the team, Ihedioha and the PDP in Imo will be appearing before the court to begin redress of the case.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that determined to reverse his sack as the governor of Imo, Ihedioha had finally sought the review of the court's judgement that declared Uzodinma as authentic governor of the state.

The former governor on Wednesday, February 5, officially approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria led by Justice Tanko Muhammed to review a judgment delivered against him and the PDP.

Legit.ng gathered that the newspaper said that the immediate past governor of Imo state approached the apex court to seek a review of the judgement that removed him from office and pronounced Uzodinma winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election of the state.

In another post, Legit.ng reported that a coalition of civil society organisation had called for a United States of America visa ban on all Supreme Court justices over the judgment delivered by the apex court on the Imo state governorship election appeal.

The Coalition in Defence of Nigerian Democracy and Constitution accused the judges of using their position to undermine Nigeria's democracy for political interest.

A petition signed by members of the coalition, Ariyo Dare-Atoye, Deji Adeyanju and Adebayo Raphael and submitted to the US Embassy in Abuja on Thursday, January 23, the coalition described the judgment as a terrible miscarriage of justice.

The coalition also called on the US government to prevail on the court to reverse itself on the judgement.

The petitioners said the Supreme Court chose to rather validate the testimonies of a police officer, 28 polling agents and a few other witnesses who are less than 60 in total, to arrive at its judgement that removed the PDP governor.
