Boko Haram captive reportedly rejects offer to be set free

- A captive of Boko Haram has allegedly turned down chance for freedom

- According to report, he said he has renounced his Christian faith

- The captive, Amuta, was abducted alongside a 58-year-old man, Moses Oyeleke

Abraham Amuta, a captive of the Boko Haram insurgents has allegedly turned down an offer by the terrorist to be freed and go home.

According to Daily Trust, Amuta reportedly told those who went to the Sambisa forest to secure his release to go back home.

He was alleged to have said that he had renounced his Christian faith.

Amuta was kidnapped on April 10, 2019, along Gwoza road from Maiduguri on their way to Chibok to deliver humanitarian assistance.

He was abducted alongside a 58-year-old man, Moses Oyeleke of Living Faith Church in Maiduguri.

He was a native of Benue who was doing his one-year mandatory service in Borno state, the news medium added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that former military administrator of Lagos state, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retired) said that retired military officers in the country are solidly behind troops fighting insurgency battle in the northeast notwithstanding the complaints and in some cases, distractions against the nations’ gallant military.

Speaking as a guest of the 2019 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the Army Headquarters Garrison which held at Mogadishu Cantonment at the weekend, General Marwa whose community, Michika, in Adamawa state has witnessed Boko Haram attacks, noted that troops were fighting under difficult conditions like bad weather, marshy terrain, and mines laden stretches of land.

The retired general said: “We retired officers appreciate the difficulty of the counter-insurgency operation. We recognize the difficulty, commitment, and doggedness, as well as sacrifices of our troops."
