Security alert: Police urge schools, worship centres to resume checks on luggage

- Owners of public places including schools, worship centres, market and others in Kaduna state have been urged to restore checks on luggage by the Police Command

- The command's spokesperson Yakubu Sabo in a statement said officers were also directed to intensify surveillance to ensure collective vigilance

- The police command’s advice is coming after a suspected bomber was nabbed at the Living Faith Church in Kaduna

In order to ensure the safety of the people of Kaduna state, the police command has urged a resumption of checks on luggage at the entrance points of schools, worship centers, markets, motor parks and other public places.

This is following the arrest of Nathaniel Samuel, a suspected bomber, at the Living Faith Church Sabon Tasha, in Chukun local government area, Kaduna state. He was nabbed on Sunday, February 2, during the service in possession of some suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

According to NAN, Yakubu Sabo, the command public relations officer, in a statement, said the checks had become very important in order to prevent any security breach. Sabo further explained that all officers have been ordered by the commissioner to intensify surveillance within the state.

The police officers are also expected to liaise with others within their jurisdictions to ensure vigilance. Kaduna state people have been assured of satisfactory security by the command recently.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Muslim Rights Concern reacted to the arrest of a suspected bomber at Winner's Chapel. The director of MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, in a statement said the organisation is not surprised that the suspected bomber is a Christian.

Akintola said concerns have been raised severally on the presence of Christain version of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group. He said when the "Christain Boko Haram members" bomb churches, the whole world blame Nigerian Muslims for the act.
