Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi celebrates his Super Bowl win, pays adoption fee for over 100 dogs

- Derrick Nnadi of the Kansas City Chiefs has paid adoption fees for more than 100 dogs to celebrate his Super Bowl win

- The Nnadi said owning a dog made him understand animals more and how they could be alone and in fear

Nigerian-American footballer, Derrick Nnadi of the Kansas City Chiefs, has celebrated his Super Bowl win in a very special way by adopting more than 100 dogs.

In speaking to CNN, the American footballer said he had always wanted to have a dog as a pet as a kid but his parents never allowed him.

That changed during his senior year of college and he got his first dog named Rocky which inspired in him the desire to help other animals.

Nnadi said Rocky made him believe that animals, whether they are in a shelter or owned, have a strong sense of fear or aloneness.

This informed the decision he took in his second year in the National Football League when he partnered with the KC Pet Project, a non-profit organization that caters for animals.

With the arrangement, he pays for a dog’s adoption fee for every time his team wins. Before the Super Bowl, Nnadi said he would pay for every dog’s fee at the shelter.

The Nigerian-American said that promise made him go all out to play hard and fulfilled his words.

Tori Fugate, the KC Pet Project chief communications officer said with the support, more dogs will be sponsored.
