A former president, Goodluck Jonathan has travelled to Seoul, South Korea to attend the World Summit 2020 organised by the Universal Peace Federation.

Jonathan who traveled along with his wife, Patience, in a message on Monday, February 3, said he was honoured to join other world leaders at the occasion to deliberate on the imperatives of peace, security and human development.

"At the World Summit 2020 in Seoul, South Korea, organised by the Universal Peace Federation, it was an honour to have joined other world leaders at the opening plenary to deliberate on the imperatives of peace, security and human development," Jonathan wrote in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, the former president has enjoined security agencies to fish out those who attacked his country home in Otuoke, Bayelsa state.

It should be noted that a soldier was shot dead by the unknown gunmen at his residence on Christmas eve, The Cable reports.

Jonathan also commended the Nigerian army for how they acted swiftly during the incident and chased the attackers.

In a statement by the spokesman of the former president, Ikechukwu Eze, he mentioned how Nigerians of different social standings have empathized with Jonathan.

The former president said exposing those behind the criminality is necessary so that such does not happen again in his community.

In a related report, the Joint Task Force (JFT) code named Operation Delta Safe and the Nigerian Navy, on Monday, December 30, visited former president Goodluck Jonathan in Otuoke, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state.

Daily Trust reports that the visit was to ascertain the level of damage following an attack on the former president’s residence by unknown gunmen on Christmas eve.

Legit.ng gathered that they said the visit was also to find the necessary solution to prevent a recurrence of such an attack.

In another news story, Goodluck Jonathan has denied media reports suggesting that he is under pressure to contest the 2023 presidential election.

Jonathan made the denial through his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, stating that he is rather focused on promoting peace and sustainable democracy in Africa.

“There is nothing like that. The former president has not made any comments nor spoken to anyone on the coming elections, "Eze said.

“He is busy concentrating on his foundation, The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF), and its work of promoting peace, sustainable democracy and youth empowerment in Africa.
