Coronavirus: Ebuka expresses fear as he lands in Dubai

Nigerian lawyer and media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has expressed fear over coronavirus after he landed in Dubai for the wedding of Kani and Adewale Adeleke.

Ebuka took to his Instagram page to express his fear, saying seeing people wearing nose masks in the Middle East country feared him.

He wrote: “These face masks are scaring me.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that five Abuja residents were arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command for falsely claiming to have contracted the coronavirus.

Anjuguri Manza, the spokesperson for the command, said the suspects who are alleged pranksters had visited the Wuse District Hospital claiming that one of them had been infected with the coronavirus.

The police stated that the prank led to panic and confusion as well as a disruption of normal health service delivery at the hospital.

The command stated that investigations into the activities of the suspects had begun and it would charge them to court when it concludes its investigation.

In other news, the federal government, through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), reacted to claims of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

The NCDC said that such viral reports and rumours were both false and unfounded and therefore called on Nigerians to completely disregard such.

The agency, however, admitted that there was a Chinese man who was put under close observation after his return from China recently but was given a clean bill of health.

The NCDC, in a statement released on Sunday, February 2, said: “The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is aware of ongoing rumours of the importation of the Coronavirus to Nigeria."

It also said that to detect the spread of the disease, a laboratory testing platform has already been established in the country.
