Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen was on target for his French League side Lille in their 2-1 away win against Strassbourg on the first day of the second month.
The Super Eagles forward powered home a fantastic goal from the penalty spot to hand his side maximum points after the game.
Adrien Thomasson opened scoring for the home team in the 12th minute but his goal got canceled out by Gabriel Magalhaes' beautiful strike in the 65th minute. And Victor sealed the win ten minutes from time.
It was, however, his 11th league goal after 21 appearances for Les Dogues in his first season at the club as they return to fourth on the table. He has also assisted three other goals in the process.
While his tally across competitions for the coach Christophe Galtier-led outfit stands at 16 so far this campaign.
Osimhen became a Lille star in August 2019 after joining them from Belgian side RSC Charleroi on a five-year deal valued around €12 million.
The 20-year-old did not waste any time before showing the quality he is made of for his new team - winning the Ligue 1 player of the month for September, just two months into the season.
He is the current joint fifth-highest goals scorer in the league this season with 11 goals from 21 matches - Senegalese Habib Diallo is the second player with the same number.
Meanwhile, Wissam Ben Yedder of Monaco is topping the chart with 15 goals from 20 appearances, closely followed by Kylian Mbappe, who has 14 goals from 16 games.
Former Barcelona star Neymar has played 13 matches for Paris Saint Germain and has found the net 13 times in the process.
Tottenham Hotspur target Moussa Dembele is fourth on the table with 12 goals from 20 matches for Olympique Lyon.
Lille are also on course for qualifying for Champions League next season as their win this weekend propelled them back to fourth on the table.
They are currently six -points shy of third-place team Rennes while Montpellier are mounting serious pressure on them.
It would be recalled that Les Dogues crashed out of the European championship at the group stage this season.
And they will be hoping to return almost immediately and make their mark on the continent by advancing from the group stage.
