Saudi Arabia ambassador to Nigeria dies in Abuja

- The Saudi Arabia ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Adnan Bostaji is dead

The Saudi Arabia ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Adnan Bostaji is dead.

The demise of the Saudi diplomat was announced by Saleh Shehu Ahmed, a Voice of America journalist, on Twitter.

According to Ahmed, the late Saudi Arabia ambassador died in his sleep at the early hours of Tuesday, February 4.

Dr Fahad Al Taffaq, the United Arab Emirates ambassador to Nigeria also confirmed the death of the diplomat on Twitter.

Mubarak Umar, a columnist with the Leadership newspapers, also corroborated the story, saying the spokesperson of the Saudi embassy in Nigeria has confirmed its authenticity.

The Late Bostaji received his bachelor’s degree in social sciences in 1985 from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. He also obtained a higher diploma in diplomatic studies in 1988 from the Diplomatic Studies Institute in Riyadh.

Recently, Bostaji met with First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation through Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian work.

The Late Saudi ambassador started his career by joining the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Later, he was appointed deputy to the ambassador at the Saudi Embassy in Tehran from 1991 until 1998.

He also worked at the administration of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1998 until 2000.

In 2000, he was appointed as chargé d’affaires at the Saudi Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark, until 2003.

He then worked as head of economic affairs and international organizations at the Saudi Embassy in London from 2003 until 2005.

Before his appointment as a Saudi ambassador to Nigeria, Bostaji served as deputy to the ambassador at the Saudi Embassy in Berlin in 2016.
