Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, on Friday, January 31, boasted that he has retired his political mentor and former governor of Kano, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from active politics.
The Kano state governor made the at the government house, when the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Abdul’aziz Garba-Gafasa, with other principal officers of the house, state APC chairman and other party leaders paid him a visit, Premium Times reports.

Ganduje pointed out that his recent Supreme Court victory coupled with that of the APC in just concluded parliamentary re-run elections in the state, is a clear indication that the Kwankwaso had been retired from politics.

Still on politics, Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has downplayed the crisis rocking the ruling party in some states of the federation.
The Sun reports that he boasted that the speculated crises rocking the ruling party did not reflect in the party’s electoral victories in the polls conducted so far.
Legit.ng gathered that Oshiomhole, who dropped the hint while playing host to Kano state chapter of the party recently, joked that if a crisis is what it takes to win elections, he won’t mind the continuation of more crises.
Meanwhile, amid calls by some Nigerians that he should resign, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, January 31, secured a vote of confidence from a group within the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
The confidence vote for the president came from the APC mandate defenders, which terms itself a support group within the party.

The group described Buhari as a blessing to the country. The mandate defenders said it reached the decision after the Senate minority leader, Enyinaya Abaribe, and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), called on Buhari to resign.
