- The 30-year-old singer was said to have spent the evening with her family
- Swift is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage
Sources have claimed that Taylor Swift did not attend the 2020 Grammys because the organisers could not confirm to her team if she won.
Swift's team was said to have called the organisers of the Grammys prior to the event, asking if the 30-year-old singer won, but the organisers refused to disclose.
Mirror reports that the claim was backed up by another source.
Legit.ng notes that the source said: "It’s widely known in the industry that [Swift’s team] called to find out if she was getting a Grammy, they wouldn’t tell her, so she didn’t go.
"It’s not uncommon [for an artist] to want to know. And everyone knows Taylor loves to win, win, win."
Swift's spokesperson, however, denied the claims, saying: "These statements by anonymous, unidentified ‘sources’ are absolutely 100 percent false and laughable."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Sean Diddy Combs called out the Grammy Awards on Saturday, January 25, at the pre-award gala for neglecting the rap and black music in all its categories.
During his 50-minute acceptance speech of his 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award, the multiple Grammy Awards winner said that respect has not been given to black music in the right measure.
He said the award institution has been “killing us man”, stating that they do not know it takes so much to make records.
In making constructive criticism, Diddy also said that the disregard is not only limited to music, that it happens in the film, sports, and other creative endeavours.
The legendary American musician won standing ovation from the crowd, especially from Jay Z and Beyonce, for his comment.
