- Governor Obaseki has been accused of recruiting a killer squad whose mission is to kill Oshiomhole
- The allegation was made by lawmakers-elect who are loyal to the APC chairman
- Obaseki, however, also reacted with a counter-allegation that Oshiomhole and his supporters are the ones causing violence in Edo state
Accusations and counter-accusations are flying around in Edo state as the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state deepens.
The 14 lawmakers-elect who are loyal to Adams Oshiomhole have accused the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, of recruiting a killer squad whose mission is to kill the APC national chairman.
They also accused the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, the petitions sent to him in the wake of the spate of attacks allegedly carried out by Governor Obaseki's alleged thugs.
They, therefore, raised the alarm that the Edo state governor and the IGP should be held responsible if Oshiomhole is killed.
The lawmakers-elect also urged the national leadership of the party to intervene in the lingering crisis that has defied reconciliation efforts.
However, the Edo state governor has also come up with a counter-accusation that the APC chairman is the one responsible for the unrest in the state.
He accused Oshiomhole and his supporters of causing the breakdown of law and order in the state while also calling on the IGP to intervene.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the crisis between Oshiomhole and Obaseki might have reached a boiling point as the latter threatened to deal with the national chairman of the APC if he did not stay away from the party's activities in the state.
Obaseki warned Oshiomhole to stay away from meddling with the affairs of the APC in the state while noting that his predecessor would not take any of such misdemeanour he was allegedly perpetrating in the state.
The governor dished out the warning when he met with chairmen of the local government areas in the state.
He said the party was regretting bringing Oshiomhole in and giving him the opportunity to rise without taking the pain to understand what kind of person he was.
The governor asked the chairman of the party in the state to deal with anybody who tries to go against the agreement of the party.
Similarly, Legit.ng reported that the Edo state government denied viral reports that Governor Obaseki was going about soliciting support from people for his second term bid.
The state government said that the report was sponsored by the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and his loyalists, warning them to desist from such.
