UI replies JAMB, says it never got involved in admission manipulation

- The University of Ibadan has replied JAMB over allegation of admission manipulation

- JAMB had accused three universities in the country of admission manipulation through the examination body's portal

- The Senate of the tertiary institution also said it would continue to maintain impeccable and flawless admission procedures in line with its commitment to excellence

Apparently dissatisfied with the allegation of admission manipulation levelled against it, the University of Ibadan (UI) has replied the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Legit.ng reports that the institution asked the examination body to count it out of the alleged admission scam.

The registrar of the university, Olubunmi O. Faluyi, in a statement issued after Senate's meeting, dismissed the allegation of the institution's involvement in any fraudulent act.

The examination board had accused three unnamed Nigerian universities of admission manipulation in a story published in the board's bulletin and two national dailies but with the University of Ibadan's logo conspicuously used as picture illustration.

It said that while the article accused three public universities of manipulation of the admission process, it did not mention the name of any university but went ahead to put an image of the University of Ibadan in the article.

The Senate said that while 19,450 sat for the post-UTME screening exercise, 12,450 scored 50% and above and were subjected to the cut-off marks set for courses to select the best of the applicants.

According to the institution, the details of all candidates who were recommended for provisional admission were uploaded to the JAMB Central Processing System to enable them to accept the offer and print their letters of admission.
