A pro-democracy group, Kaduna APC support league has expressed excitement with what is considered speedy clearance of President Muhammadu Buhari's nominee, Kingsley Obiora, as deputy governor for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Legit.ng's reporter in Kaduna, Nasir Dambatta, reports that a media release issued by the group in Kaduna on Thursday, January 30, and signed by its chairman, Habib Bello, said the senator has proved himself worthy as a lawmaker represent f Kaduna central and a reliable member of the APC at both state and national levels.
The statement also expressed satisfaction with the oversight functions of the senator, especially the final presentation of his committee's report to Senate on Thursday, January 30, adding that, "we didn't think it could be done with the speed it was done."
It would be recalled that the Senator Uba Sani-led committee on banking, insurance, and other financial institutions has been busy with issues of national importance, namely the defaulters of AMCON loans, alleged stamp duty non-remittance among a host of others.
The Senate on Thursday, January 30, confirmed the appointment of Obiora as the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
"When Dr. Obiora appeared before the Committee for screening he was asked a wide range of technical questions. In his response to the questions raised, Obiora exhibited a deep and extensive understanding of the Nigerian economy and pledged to work closely with other management staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to strengthen our monetary policies in order to fast-track our economic recovery efforts," Senator Uba Sani explained.
