Femi Adesina, a presidential spokesperson, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is fully aware of the security challenges in Nigeria.

Adesina made the statement on Thursday, January 30, when dismissing the media narrative which claimed that Buhari said he is unaware of the security challenges in the country.

He argued that Buhari was quoted out of context when he was speaking about the emergence of banditry in the north-west region of the country, The Cable reports.

The presidential aide said Buhari’s statements were slanted to mean that the president said he is unaware of the security challenges in some parts of the country.

Adesina noted that on the contrary, Buhari is fully aware and fully in charge of all that is going on in the country.

Adesina further said that the president’s point was that insecurity in the country is caused by evil plan and not ethnicity or religion.

He warned that any deliberate misrepresentation of the president’s words would harm the country.

Meanwhile, the call by Chris Ngige, minister of labour, asking Igbo people to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a response from Kingsley Moghalu, presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), in the 2019 election.

Ngige had said that Moghalu lost the 2019 presidential election because he did not seek for the position on the platform of a recognised political party. Moghalu, a professor, called Ngige an arrogant politician who does not care about the impact of his activities on the masses.

In another report, the National Democratic Front (NDF) has accused members of the House of Representatives of working with underground forces to return Nigeria to dark and inglorious era. NDF while reacting to a motion moved on by the chief whip of the House, Mohammed Tahir, and 14 others on Wednesday, January 29.

The lawmakers had called on the service chiefs to either resign or be sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
