Man gets big fortune as his Rolex watch bought for N125,414 in 1970 is valued at N254m

- A US Air Force veteran was given one of the best news of his life when he was told his Rolex watch is worth $700,000 (N253,750,000)

- The man bought the watch when he was a soldier for $345.97 (N125,414.13) when he saw that most of his colleagues wore the Rolex brand

- According to the ex-serviceman, he only brought the watch to be valued on the Antique Show and never thought it would be worth much

A veteran of the United States Air Force has collapsed on live television on Antiques Show after he was told that the Rolex watch he bought for less than $400 (N145,000) in the 1970s is now worth $700,000 (N253,750,000).

On the show, the audience saw the dramatic moment the man fell to the ground when he was told about the watch, Daily Mail reports.

The person who valued the watch informed the old man that the piece could bring in between $500,000 (N181,250,000) and $700,000 (N253,750,000).

It should be noted that the veteran brought the watch on the show to get it valued. He was also appreciated for bringing one of the greatest watches ever in the world.

The veteran was further told that he cannot wear it. Another thing worthy of note is that the man bought the watch when he was a member of the Air Force serving in Thailand in the 1970s.

After seeing that most of his colleagues had a Rolex on, he bought it because he thought that it was a sought-after brand.

In picking a model, he bought the Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Reference 6263 for the sum of $345.97(N125,414.13), a price report said that it could have been his month’s paycheque.

The former soldier also said that the watch was too nice for him then for everyday use, so he decided to keep it as the watch stayed gathering dust for 45 years.

The man said when he brought it to be valued, he never expected that it would be worth that much as he presented the watch with everything that it came with.
