Oyo court restrains sacked LG chairmen from forcefully taking over office
Sacked chairmen from local governments and local council development areas in Oyo state are restrained from forcefully taking over the council secretariat
The high court sitting in Ibadan issued the restraining order following an ex-parte motion filed by the Oyo state government
Others restrained by the order include the attorney-general of the federation, the Inspector-General of police, among others
The sacked council chairmen across the 33 local governments and 35 local council development areas in Oyo state have been restrained by the high court sitting in Ibadan from forcefully taking over the council secretariat.
The Nation reports that the court issued the interim injunction on Tuesday, January 28, following an ex-parte motion filed by the Oyo state government.

The Injunction also restrained the attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, the Inspector-General of Police Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, the commissioner of Police, Oyo State command, Sina Olukolu and Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Akin Oke from taking any step that could tamper with the pending matters before the Court of Appeal.

The court stated that it would amount to breach of peace for the sacked chairmen to embark on self-help to give effect to a letter by the attorney general regarding the dispute over the administration.
Meanwhile, the position of the lawmakers at the green chamber of the National Assembly was made known on Tuesday, January 28, by their spokesperson, Benjamin Kalu.
The Cable reports that Kalu made the statement in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city. in relation to the recent upsurge in attacks and killing of citizens of the country by insurgents and other suspected criminals.
He reportedly described the level of insecurity in the country as disturbing. Addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Benjamin Kalu, spokesman of the green chamber, said the rate of insecurity in Nigeria is alarming.
The report said Kalu, who spoke with newsmen when the lawmakers at the lower chamber resumed legislative activities from a recess, said he and his colleagues have been troubled by the cries of victims across the country.
In another report, Ahmed Lawan, the Senate president on Tuesday, January 28, said the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria is worrisome.
Speaking during plenary at the Senate chamber, Lawan said the loss of lives recorded in the country was unacceptable.
The Senate leader said there is need for those in government to do all necessary to secure the lives and property of citizens as contained in the constitution.
