Grammy Award 2020: Stefflon Don celebrates Burna Boy after losing award

To be nominated for an award such as the Grammys is a very big deal in itself but it would mean so much more if the award is won.

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu popularly called Burna Boy, made Nigerians really proud and even have bragging rights on social media after he was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Burna Boy’s album, African Giant, was nominated under the Best World Music Album category. The Anybody crooner however did not win as he lost to legendary Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo.

The news has been met with a series of mixed reactions on social media with many people sharing words of encouragement with the singer who was expected to win.

Burna Boy’s girlfriend, Stefflon Don, has also reacted to him losing the Grammy Award. In a post shared on her Instastory, Stefflon Don said Burna Boy is still her winner and her number one.

A supportive girlfriend.

In other news, Legit.ng reported that Angelique Kidjo dedicated her Grammy win to Burna Boy.

While giving her acceptance speech during the ceremony, Angelique Kidjo said that Burna Boy is an example of a new generation artiste who is ready to take the world by storm.

She said: "The new generation of artists coming from Africa are going to take you by storm, and the time has come."

Burna Boy also reciprocated by appreciating Kidjo for dedicating her award to him. He wrote: "I love you forever @angeliquekidjo and every single person that rooted for me, I don’t take any of it lightly! The world get ready cause we’re all coming!"
