President Muhammadu Buhari has finally issued a personal reaction to the decision of a national newspaper to address him with his military title of Major General.

The newspaper said its decision to address the president with his military title was in protest against the rising disregard for the rule of law by his administration.

However, President Buhari in a transcription of his recent interview posted by his aide on new media, Bashir Ahmad, appeared unbothered by the newspaper's decision.

Asked if the decision of the newspaper worried him, he said: "Am I not a rtd Major General of the Nigerian Army? I didn’t just pick the rank in the streets, I earned it."

President Buhari also reacted to a question regarding his relationship with his deputy, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Asked how he would describe his relationship with Osinbajo, the president said "perfect" and jokingly asked the interviewer if the vice president has complained to him.

President Buhari also addressed the allegations that the cabal has hijacked the presidency from him. Dismissing the allegation, the president said he was the one who went round the country on campaigns for the presidential election and whom Nigerians voted for.

"No one else did, and no one else took the oath of office, and can exercise the powers of a President," he added.
