Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas California including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna alongside three other people aboard on Sunday night, January 26.

The NBA legend was on his helicopter when the incident happened, with the tragedy plunging the fraternity of sports into mourning as tributes keep pouring in for the dimmed stars.

The footage of him alighting from the plane showed the 35-year LA Lakers star reduced to tears as he shared powerful embraces with close sympathisers.

Bryant's tragic death came less than 24 hours after James moved ahead of him in the all-time NBA scoring charts.

James moved one point above the late NBA star with 33,655 points, and Bryant was quick to congratulate the LA Lakers star in what appeared to be his last post on Twitter and Instagram.

James had paid a tribute to Kobe Bryant after breaking his record, with a message for his legendary trainers during the game in Philadelphia.

In a post-match interview, James praised Bryant influence on his career and even inscribed his iconic 'Mamba' nickname on his snickers.
