A resurgent Man United side on Sunday, January 26, put their Premier League woes behind to secure a 6-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
United came into the match in poor shape, having lost two of their previous league matches to leave them sitting 33 points behind high-flying Liverpool.
Club boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, rung a string of changes from the side that lost 2-0 to Burnley, with David de Gea among senior squad members who paved way.
The Red Devils got the match at Prenton Park off a flying start, with Harry Maguire netting the opener and his first for the club since his world record switch from Leicester City inside 10 minutes.
Diogo Dalot doubled the advantage three minutes later, smashing home from Anthony Martial's pass for his first United goal.
Jesse Lingard, who had not scored a Premier League goal for United in the last 12 months got his name on the score sheet in the 16th minute after being set up by Maguire.
Tranmere's best chance of the half came in the 20th minute through Ferrier, but his effort was well saved by Sergio Romero who was in goal.
The visitors put the game beyond Tranmere in the first half, with Phil Jones and Martial all scoring to make the score line 4-0 and 5-0 afterwards.
Youngster Mason Greenwood made it 6-0 from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after Davies fouling Tahith Chong.
The result means United are now through to the fifth round of the FA Cup, joining other Premier League heavyweights including Man City and Chelsea in the next stage of the tournament.
