Dimitar Berbatov claims Manchester United can no longer attract top players

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that Manchester United's current situation can never attract top players to think of going to Old Trafford.

This comes after the Red Devils suffered an embarrassing home defeat against Burnley in a Premier League match which pilled more pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018, he started on an impressive note beating Paris-Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

His performances then convinced Manchester United chiefs to give him the job on permanent basis, but Manchester United still failed to qualify for 2019/20 Champions League.

The Red Devils are still struggling to find their rhythm this term in the Premier League as they currently occupy sixth position on the standings.

United are also destined to miss out in the next Champions League campaign unless there is a change this season at Old Trafford.

But there former striker Berbatov does not think the situation can change at Old Trafford.

Dimitar Berbatov claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still the right man for Manchester United job, but he added that the Norwegian will continue to struggle at Old Trafford.

"I think Ole is still the man to stop the decline, but they need to do business in the transfer market and buy some players now. The question is who do they go out and get and do the players even want to come to Old Trafford.

"The sad part is, United will now have to work hard to convince players to come. In the past, you only had to say the name 'Manchester United' and you were there asking where do you sign,'' he told Betfair.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be up against Tranmere in their next game in the English FA Cup in which the Red Devils need a win to redeem themselves.
