The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (US) on Friday, January 24, recorded another case of the dreaded disease called Coronavirus which started in the Wuhan part of China recently.
The patient is a woman (about 60 years old) who has been receiving treatment in a hospital in Chicago, NBC News reports.
Reports have that the woman had travelled to Wuhan in December 2019, but returned to Illinois earlier in January 2020 without any symptom of the disease.
However, the diagnosis of her case has revealed that she is responding to treatment at the centre in the US.
According to Bloomberg, healthcare authorities in the US have expressed fears that there are chances of the spread of the disease.
In fact, the centre said that it is presently studying over 60 persons and many more travellers from Wuhan.
Nancy Messonnier, the CDC’s national centre for immunization and respiratory diseases, said: “We are expecting more cases in the U.S. and we are likely going to see some cases among close contacts of travellers and human-to-human transmission.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had on Wednesday, January 22, issued a travel advisory following the break out of Coronavirus broke out in China.
The statement made available to Legit.ng called on passengers in the country and other airport users to comply with all quarantine procedures.
Yakubu gave the assurance that the Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed that facilities as the country's airports are adequate to prevent importation of the virus.
She added that all the equipment and personnel used in combating the deadly Ebola virus in 2014 are still very much in place.
FAAN also urged all passengers to submit themselves for routine quarantine checks whenever they are asked to.
Legit.ng gathered that the deadly coronavirus recent broke out in China and has since killed six people, with over 300 also reported to have been infected.
The virus which is highly communicable has already spread to border countries such as Japan, Thailand and South Korea.
