Oko Oloyun: Fatai Yusuf killed by suspected assassins

- Fatai Yusuf, a well known traditional medicine practitioner popularly known as Oko Oloyun has been shot dead by unknown gunmen

- Gbenga Fadeyi, the spokesperson for the Oyo state police command says the body of the traditional medicine practitioner has been deposited in the Igbo-Ora General Hospital

Fatai Yusuf, a well known traditional medicine practitioner popularly known as Oko Oloyun was on Thursday, January 23, shot dead by unknown gunmen.

The Oyo police command disclosed that Yusuf died after he was shot by suspected assassins around 4.30 pm while traveling in his vehicle on Eruwa-Igbo-Ora road, The Guardian reports.

The police said Yusuf’s body has been deposited in the Igbo-Ora General Hospital.

In another news report, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been killed by suspected assassins in Oyo, a situation that is said to be causing panic among the party faithful as well as the people of the state.

The murder of Alhaji Babatunde Oreitan, The Nation reports, happened in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 22.

The report described the victim as one of the leaders of the party in the Ona Ara council area of the state adding that the gunmen snuffed his life out after storming his house located in Ibadan, the capital of the state, just after the Dhur Islamic prayer in a mosque located within his premises.

Meanwhile, as Nigeria continues to battle insecurity across the country, governors of the six north-central states have concluded plans to kick-start the framework for effective community policing to tackle the issues in the region.

The decision was taken in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, at the just concluded Northcentral Security Summit.

All the governors in the region were present at the well-attended summit including key stakeholders in the zone.
