- Uzor Uzor, the chairman of one of the groups, says the Supreme Court judges have shown that they cannot be trusted by Nigerians as the last hope of the common man
Some civil society organisations (CSOs) have said they are planning a protest against the judgment of the Supreme Court which the nullified election Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state.
The Guardian reports that the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), Democracy and Good Governance, and the Civil Liberties and Rule of Law have all described the sack of Ihedioha by the apex court as a conspiracy.
In the same vein, Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation (HURIDE) urged Nigerians to take part in a protest against the ruling planned for Saturday, January 18.
Uzor Uzor, the chairman of HURIDE, on Thursday, January 16, in Awka, Anambra state, said the judges showed that they cannot be trusted by Nigerians as the last hope of the common man.
The other civil societies declared that the judgment moved from plots to satanic prophesy; ending with judicial execution.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for immediate review and reversal of the decision of the apex court over the way the Supreme Court sacked Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state.
Premium Times reports that the party made this known on Thursday, January 16, at a press conference at its secretariat in Abuja.
Legit.ng gathered that while addressing journalists, the party’s national chairman, Uche Secondus, said the reversal would be in the interest of justice.
He said, after a thorough examination of all the issues relating to what he described as a miscarriage of justice by the Supreme Court, the party resolved that the apex court, as presently constituted under Justice Tanko, has become heavily compromised.
