A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun, has warned that Nigerians are not happy with the current situation of things on the ground.

Daily Trust reports that Oyegun while speaking on Thursday, January 16, at its 17th edition dialogue said democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.

The former APC chairman also said since the return of democracy in Nigeria, no single administration had ever been immune to citizens' anger.

Oyegun said: "As a person, I have no difficulty at all acknowledging that democracy has to develop roots in our nation."

He also said that he is not worried that Nigerians have been given the opportunity to accept victory and accept defeat in different shapes at different times.

Oyegun continued saying: "Either when the Supreme Court finally pronounces or following the example of President Goodluck Jonathan graciously conceding defeat."

He said he was worried that the trend of things in the country has become a threat to Nigeria's democracy.

Querying why Nigeria as a country is not working, Oyeguin said: “At the risk of being misinterpreted, let me make the point that we have been growing in those 20 years, every year and with every administration."

“I dare to even say that there is hardly a single administration in those 20 years that has not left office unpopular and unheralded,” he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Oyegun had accused the current national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, is focused on distracting the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, from performing his duties.
