- A Gambian man has narrated how a landlady refused to rent an apartment to him
- Identified as Ebrima Mboob, he had requested to see the apartment located in central London

A lot of times, Africans in diaspora share stories of how they've been denied opportunities due to their African heritage. However, it's not everyday you hear people getting turned down due to their taste in food.
This however, was the case for a man identified as Ebrima Mboob. The University of the Arts London student in his interview with Sun Online, revealed he had sent Elina Vimbsone a Facebook message to arrange to view a double room in central London.
However, Vimbsone changed her mind after discovery he was Gambian. She explained that she had friends from Nigeria and when they cook, the whole house smells.

Mboob, 24, a performing arts student, told Sun Online: “I was completely shocked at the landlord’s response and I still am today. Growing up in England, I’ve experienced all types of racism, but this was the first time that I’ve experienced something this absurd.”

Mboob ended the conversation by calling the landlord ‘racist’ and asking her not to send him any message again.
UK law prohibits refusal to rent a property due to a person’s race as it breaches section 12 of the Equality Act 2010.
Meanwhile, it is no doubt that Nigerian landlords and tenants often have very shaky relationships that stem from many issues bothering on rent payment and different breach of contracts by either the landlord or the tenant.
Twitter user, @MTinuoye, recently took to the platform to cry out for help after she revealed what a tenant who was owing rent, did to his landlord's property after he was served a quit notice.
