- The minister was referring to the opposition's rejection of the Supreme Court's ruling in the governorship election of Imo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as an unserious party by Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour and productivity.

He was referring to the rejection of the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election of the former governor of Imo, Emeka Ihedioha, Channels TV reports.

Speaking at Ughelli, Delta state on Wednesday, January 15, Keyamo said that the PDP is a party which is only willing to give but never ready to get from the country's judicial system.

He said: “We have an opposition that is a very unserious opposition; an opposition that is not ready to take but they are ready to give.

“An opposition that takes the benefit from the system; from a particular institution and they don’t want to take the downs from that same institution.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the PDP was at a loss concerning the ruling of the Supreme Court which, on Tuesday, January 14, dismissed the victory of Emeka Ihedioha, as governor of Imo state.

The party, in its official reaction to the judgement, which favoured Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalled how he came fourth at the poll and wondered how such a person could be declared the winner.

Describing it as another sad commentary on the nation’s democratic order, the party said Uzodimma "came fourth in the March 9, 2019 governorship election with just 96,458 votes" and that the PDP polled 276,404 votes.

"In fact, the PDP and indeed, most Nigerians are still at a loss as to understand the basis upon which the Supreme Court arrived at its decision," the PDP said.
