Cristiano Ronaldo was said to have warned his compatriot Joao Cancelo that he would regret joining Manchester City.
The 25-year-old Portuguese star joined the Premier League defending champions on a six-year deal valued around €65 million from Juventus last summer.
Six months down the lane, the defender has now been informed by the club that he has become surplus to requirement at the Etihad Stadium.
Daily Star reports that City told the player he can leave this month after just 17 appearances across competitions as La Liga side Valencia are the only ones showing interest in the player.
Cancelo was brought in to replace Danilo who joined the Old Lady for £34.1 million, but his influence has not really been felt at the club.
Meanwhile, City boss was quoted saying he ‘didn’t know’ if Cancelo was happy or not when asked about the player in a press conference.
But Jose Mourinho as reported by El Desmarque has made enquiry about the Portugal international.
The 56-year-old wants to give Serge Aurier some level of competition since he has not been convincing in his role.
Mourinho told talkSPORT earlier this week when asked if he is desperate to sign new players: “No.
“I think Daniel Levy today is proud of the players because of what the players did.
“He’s proud of one kid [Japhet Tanganga] that come from the academy and showed the world he is a new player for the Premier League level.
“And Daniel Levy always tries to do the best for the club and he’ll do what he thinks is the best and what he thinks is possible.”
Spurs slipped to eighth on the table after their slim defeat to log-leaders Liverpool in last weekend's Premier League clash but return to winning ways with their 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup replay.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo joined reigning Italian champions Juventus from Spanish giants Real Madrid and he is currently spending his second season in Turin.
In his first season with the Old Lady, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 28 goals in 43 games winning the Serie A title with the Old Lady.
The Portuguese wanted to win the Champions League as well with Juventus, but his side were bundled out of the championship by Dutch side Ajax.
