“It is, therefore, wrong to assert that the picture was taken on the day of the Supreme court judgment,” the statement noted.

The picture had gone viral with many sharing it after the controversial Supreme Court judgement that ousted Ihedioha.

Meanwhile, Ihedioha has accused the apex court of subverting the will of the people of the state.

In a statement made available to Legit.ng on Wednesday, January 15, the former governor stated that he was clearly elected by the people of Imo, adding that the mandate given to him by the people of the state has now been truncated and cut short by the Supreme Court.

In its reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the ruling as another sad commentary on the nation’s democratic order.

The PDP lamented that the people's collective destiny had been taken from the governor they chose and handed over to someone and a political party that the residents do not want, lamenting that Ihedioha's progress as governor of Imo state is now being jeopardised as a result of the judgement.
