Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford may not be available for his side's Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.

The England international was taken out of the pitch after failing to overcome a nagging knock during the Red Devils 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their FA Cup third-round replay.

Juan Mata scored the only goal that propelled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men to the next stage of the championship.

Before being replaced by Jesse Lingard in the 80th minute, the 22-year-old had initially limped off the pitch earlier in the game. He later returned back to the middle of the pitch in a bid to continue.

According to SunSport, Man United boss, Solskjaer confirmed Rashford's injury but insisted they are yet to be informed the extent of the knock.

The Norwegian-born tactician also said he was unsure of the forward's availability for their crucial clash this weekend.

When asked if it was a mistake to bring Rashford on, the boss replied: "That backfired but you’ve got to go for them once in a while.

"It seems like he’s got a knock and he couldn’t run so let’s test in the next couple of days. Hopefully okay for Sunday but I don’t know.

"He couldn't run. He’s struggled a little bit with a couple of knocks in his back recently and now he’s got another one."

Rashford also tweeted after the game.

He wrote: "Never want to feel like I’ve let my team-mates, the club and most importantly the fans down so did my very best to carry on tonight and was gutted to come off.

Rashford is currently tied with Aubameyang and Danny Ings on 14 goals in the Premier League so far this campaign.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after edging Wolves in the third round of the tournament on Wednesday night, January 15.

United set up a replay date with Wolves at Old Trafford after settling for a goalless draw in the original tie played at Molineux Stadium 11 days ago.

Buoyed by home support, a second-half masterclass from Juan Mata is all the Red Devils needed to seal a place in the next round of the competition.
