Ivorian artist O'Plerou Denis Grebet is passionate about portraying Africa in a positive light, and this has led to the creation of 350 emojis that celebrate the beauty of African culture in all its forms.
Grebet was said to be looking for free stock images of Africa for a project, but only came across negative images of disease and poverty, CNN reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the negative images about Africa annoyed him and propelled him to create images that will depict the beauty of the continent.
He said: "I noticed that media and most articles about Africa were talking about the bad sides of the continent only. They reduced the image of it to a land in war where people are poor and hungry. These elements are true but it's not everywhere on the continent."
The 22-year-old Abidjan-based student said he has always been artistic and spent time as a child constantly drawing.
He said: "It was not really hard because I know how to draw with my hand, so, it's like I just transposed the skills to the computer."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a young talented Ghanaian painter and sculptor named Bright Danso specialised in the art of creating beautiful designs with smoke and fire, which is known as Pyrography.
On his personal Facebook handle, the talented painter posted videos of some of his breathtaking works. He also shared moments he was creating the artworks.
