Obama production company’s 1st film receives Oscar nomination

The Obamas are setting standards yet again! A film produced by the former US president and first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company was nominated for an Oscar award.

Barack and Michelle Obama are inspirations, pillars of strength and people of change. The power couple has not stopped raising the bar ever since they took the White House in 2009.

Legit.ng gathers that the Obamas received the news of their Oscar nomination on Monday, January 13, and were completely blown away.

The Netflix documentary film titled American Factory, which tells the story of a Chinese company which took care of the former General Motors plant was the film that got the Obamas the Oscar nod for Best Documentary.

American Factory was the first film created under Obama’s production company and was produced in 2019 and released on Netflix.

The former US president took to social media to thank his team and express his pride.

Former first lady Michelle Obama also took to social media to give thanks and share the amazing news.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the nominations for the 2020 Oscar was announced, with Joker leading with 11 nominations, while The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood earned 10 nominations each.

The 2020 Oscar will honour the best films of 2019 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
