- Aston Villa are currently occupying 18th position on the Premier League table
Liverpool legend Pepe Reina has made a return to the Premier League after being signed by relegation threatening side Aston Villa on loan from Italian giants AC Milan.
Aston Villa were forced to enter the transfer market after their first choice goalie Tom Heaton suffered a long term injury in which he will be out for the season.
Villa manager Dean Smith had to go for former Liverpool goalie Pepe Reina in his desperation to avoid relegation and the 37-year-old will be at Aston Villa until the end of the season.
“We’ve managed to secure a player in Pepe who has a wealth of Premier League experience.
“At the start of the summer we were looking for an experienced goalkeeper and brought in Tom Heaton.
"Unfortunately, his injury has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
"But Pepe fits our criteria not just because of his experience but also because of his leadership qualities,'' Dean Smith explained according to UK Sun.
Reina himself took to social media to express happiness on his move to Aston Villa saying that he is ready for the challenges ahead.
He spent nine years at Liverpool between the year 2005-2014 winning four trophies with the Anfield landlords.
Aston Villa are currently battling with the absence of striker Wesley who has been ruled out for the season after picking ankle injury.
