Governor Wike says Nigerian military has lost its integrity

- Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state accuses Nigerian military personnel of rigging elections in the country

- The Rivers state governor says Nigerians will never honour members of the Armed Forces involved in election rigging

- Wike urges members of the armed forces to choose the right path in the interest of the country

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said the Nigerian military has lost its integrity because of some unprofessional personnel who engage in rigging elections in the country.

Addressing an audience at a church service marking the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, Wike said Nigerians would never honour members of the Armed Forces involved in election rigging, Daily Nigerian reports.

“We are not honouring those who are unprofessional and carry ballot boxes to influence the electoral process. I urge members of the Armed Forces to choose the right path in the interest of the country, he said.

“It is unfortunate that the military has lost its integrity because of some unprofessional personnel.

The governor explained that Nigerians have lost the fear of the military because of their unprofessional conduct.

Those who come to rig election or kill Rivers people, heaven will never remember them," he said

Wike said his stance had been confirmed by the chairman of INEC who he said also accused security agencies of being the problems with elections are the security agencies.

Meanwhile, the governor of Rivers said that it will cost his successor hard work, commitment and diligence to succeed him in 2023 when his second administration expires.

Wike promised residents and indigenes in the state on Saturday, January 11, that he will never impose anyone on them to succeed him, adding that his office can never be given as gift, Channels TV reports.
