Sadio Mane has named former Senegal international El Hadji Diouf as his favorite player he grew up watching in the game of football.
Sadio Mane stated this while answering a question in an interview where the likes of Daniel Amokachi, Kanu Nwankwo and El Hadji Diouf were with him.
These three African football legends were celebrating with Sadio Mane after being named the 2019 African Player of the year beating Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.
And while on the stage talking with Kanu, Amokachi and Diouf, a reporter came to meet them and asked Sadio Mane to choose one among the three men.
In response, Sadio Mane with a smile looked at the faces of Amokachi, Kanu and Diouf and then picked his fellow countryman as his favorite.
El Hadji Diouf is one of the best strikers during his active playing days both for club and country.
His superb performances then most especially for the national team helped him to win the 2001 and 2002 African Best Footballer awards.
Former Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu also won the CAF Best Player awards twice in his career, but Daniel Amokachi never won it finishing third three times in his career.
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane has returned back to his club Liverpool who are currently topping the Premier League standings with 58 points after 20 games.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool and Senegalese striker Sadio Mane was named as African's best footballer of the year for 2019 beating Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez for the award.
Sadio Mane finished second behind Mohamed Salah in 2017 and 2018 and also finished third in 2016 before winning the 2019 edition thanks to his superb performances for Liverpool.
