Buhari condemns gun attack in Plateau state

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the recent gun attack in Mangu local government area of Plateau state which claimed about 12 lives.

The Nigerian president in a statement, through his media aide, Garba Shehu, on Thursday, January 9, said he is in contact with the Governor Simon Lalong, the military, police, and other security agencies in the state over the incident.

The president said he is shocked and grieved by the incident and urged security agencies in the state to increase vigilance to stop further attacks on innocent communities.

Meanwhile, Samson Salau, a suspected gunrunner from Plateau state, has reportedly confessed to selling dangerous weapons, including AK-47 guns, to armed robbers and bandits attacking some northern states.

PR Nigeria reports that Salau, in a video clip, confessed to the crimes while being interrogated by DSP Hassan Gimba Sule, the Minna sector commander of the Inspector General of Police (IGP)'s Special Tactical Squad.
