Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Lyon forward Moussa Dembele over a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his squad after the club's transfer ban was recently lifted as he pushes for a top-four finish this season.
Dembele is understood to be top on Lampard's transfer wish list, with Chelsea looking to sign the versatile striker this January.
The Stamford Bridge dwellers are now said to have already made a huge step towards signing Dembele after arriving at a verbal agreement on personal terms.
Metro UK however contends the Europa League champions still face a huge battle to price the Frenchman away in winter, with the publication further asserting Chelsea have already had a £34 million bid for the 23-year-old rejected.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is understood to be unwilling to let Dembele leave mid-season unless the right offer arrives.
"There have been offers for him and for other players but none of those that we want to keep will leave in January," Metro UK quoted Aulas.
The French club are demanding an astonishing £85 million for the forward who has found the back of the net 10 times in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Chelsea are reportedly close to the signing of Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha with emerging reports claiming Blues are ready to splash £80 million for the sensational forward.
